Chelsea have parted ways with manager Mauricio Pochettino after a season in charge by mutual consent.

Pochettino was appointed by Chelsea last May after a lengthy recruitment process that saw the club consider several other candidates, including former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane.

The Argentine led the Blues to a third-place finish in the Premier League in his first season in charge, but the team's form dipped in the second half of the campaign.

Chelsea finished the season fifth in the Premier League, outside the Champions League places, and were also knocked out of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup at the semi-final stage.

Pochettino's departure comes just a few days after the club's new owners, led by Todd Boehly, completed their takeover of the club.

It is unclear who will replace Pochettino as Chelsea manager, but the club are likely to consider a number of candidates, including former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti.
